Meli Melo bags are a successful combination of luxury Italian design and raw London cool. Made from natural, unprinted leather hides, with either natural grain or Nappa leather. Handles and other hardware are made from zamak, a zinc alloy that is extremely strong, has excellent finishing characteristics, and a production cycle that has very low impact on the environment. Meli Melo also uses soy ink for printing their bags and boxes, which is much more environmentally friendly than traditional inks.

The Thela handbag is handcrafted from Italian grained 100% natural leather with a smooth suede interior lining and has become Meli Melo's famous signature handbag. The bag can be worn in five ways, including tucking the corners in for an ultra-sleek look, attaching the long straps to the gold fastening for a business look, or detaching the stylish internal pouch for use as an evening clutch bag. Meli Melo has also incorporated an internal zipped phone or cardholder and their popular inverted handles to allow the bag to be worn smoothly against your silhouette. Meet Melissa Del Bono, the founder and creative director behind Meli Melo
Melissa Del Bono, founder and creative director of Meli Melo, took her inspiration for her love of bags from growing up on the island of Lipari, Sicily, where, as a young child, she would watch the women of the local villages carrying their wicker baskets. When she received her first wicker basket, Melissa recalls taking it everywhere with her. She loved the versatility of the basket and its design with its inverted handles for hooking over the donkeys' ears when feeding.
Meli Melo launched in 2005 in London, where Melissa had settled and, although Melissa had never attended design school, she had worked for various in-house PR teams, including Harper's Bazaar, Tanner Krolle and Asprey. She used her creative experience, together with the influence of the local fisher women's basket she had always admired, to design her first Thela bag. Melissa made sure to include the relaxed shape of the wicker baskets and the famous inverted handles. She sourced the most refined Italian Leather from the local high-end tanneries to produce what would ultimately become her first Meli Melo handbag, a combination of elegant Italian design and raw London cool.

Meli Melo offers free delivery worldwide for orders over £300. Delivery charges within the UK are £5.50 for orders under £300, delivery charges to Europe are £19 for orders under £300 and to the USA £35 for orders under £300. Delivery charges to China, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, Singapore and the rest of the world are £45 for orders under £300.
